Here are three tips that you can use right now when thinking about your best man speech.

Tip #1

You should start your speech off with a good joke.  Lots of people enjoy a funny moment especially if it includes the bride and groom.  So be sure to include some stories about when you and the groom grew up or how you first met and turn it into something that will get a good laugh.

Tip #2

Make sure that you bring your speech down to earth and talk about the bride and groom while being sincere.  Tell them what a great couple they are and provide some words of wisdom and encouragement as they start their lives together.

Tip #3

In order to deliver a really great speech you need to rehearse it.  This means that you have to plan and write it out in advance.  Practice you speech in front of a mirror over and over again.  Just remember to have fun with it and try to be yourself.

If I can be honest with what really helped me put all of these tips together was seeing what other best man speech examples have been used in the past.  Not only id examples provide me with some great ideas but they also helped me with the format and content of my speech.  Overall, it helped erase my fear of embarrassing myself and made me feel more confident.  The best part was that when I did delivered my best man speech, my friends told me that it was one of the funniest and unforgettable speeches that they’ve heard.

Hi it’s Paul…

If you’ve been selected by your good pal as the best man for his wedding, you may be wondering how you’re going to put a speech togther.  And I don’t mean any ordinary speech, I mean a truly inspirational and memorable one.

I’ve put together a series of best man speech tips that you might find useful.  By following these easy tips you can deliver a flawless speech that will make your groom proud.

Tip #1 – Be Personal

  • Your friend selected you as the bet man for a reason.  This is your moment to prove to him what kind of friend that you are.  It is, therefore, important that your best man speech reflects your personality.  If you’re not a natural born comedian, that’s ok.  Just don’t be too boring!  The key point here is to be yourself and show the audience who you really are.

Tip #2 – Introductions

  • An obvious mistake I did when I delivered my speech was I almost forgot to introduce myself.  Sometimes you get so caught up in all the excitement that you forget that there are 200 people whom you may have never met.  These folks want to know who you are and how you and the groom grew to be such close friends.  Please remember to introduce yourself.

Tip #3 – Tell Some Interesting Stories

  • One of the things that I have learned during my speech writing is that everyone loves a good story, especially a funny one that involves the bride or groom.  A joke or funny anecdote is a very popular way to gain interest to your speech.

Tip #4 – Be Fun But Within Reason

  • One thing that you’ll have to consider when you write your speech is more than likely there will be people of all ages at the wedding.  While I do encourage that you use humor, you need to ensure that your jokes are appropriate and not offensive to the wedding party and the guests.

Tip #5 – Practice Makes Perfect

  • Once you have your wedding speech prepared, read it over and over again and make sure that you rehearse it.  On the big day you are going to be full of emotions and you want to ensure that you know the speech like the back of your hand.

Tip #6 – Look Confident

  • When you are delivering your speech, look at the audience.  For some, it is common to keep your head down.  The problem with this is that you don’t sound like an expert and your voice does not project.  Stand up straight and act confident.  Remember, you’re complimenting your friend and you need to act the part.

If you follow these simple best man speeches tips, you should have no problem making an impact during your best man speech.

Funny Best Man Speech Examples #1

  • Hi, I’m Paul.  I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time.  After all these years, Ryan finally admitted that I’m the best man.
  • I want to thank you all for coming.  I have to admit, some of you clean up pretty nice.
  • The kids just asked me to thank everybody for all the gifts.  In case anyone is wondering, I got first takers on the new blender from Aunt Genny.
  • Great party, John and Linda.  Thanks for footing the bill.  I’m amazed at how far people will come for free food and booze.
  • I had it admit it, buy Ryan did have love interests before Kristina.  He really loved Sherry…not to mention, wine, vodka and scotch
  • Doesn’t Kristina look stunning today?  Yeah, but John just looks stunned!
  • Everything will be fine in the marriage as long as Ryan remembers to keep saying those three little words, ‘you’re right Kristina’
  • Now I want everybody, or at least those that still can, to stand up for a toast.  Here’s to Ryan and Kristina.

Funny Best Man Speeches Examples #2

Good afternoon.  Thank you for all being here today. Ryan and Kristina appreciate your generosity.  I would also like to thank John and Linda for allowing us to be part of this special day. Some of you may not know me.  My name is Paul.  I’m Ryan’s best friend, just don’t tell anybody.  But seriously, I met Ryan in the third grade.  We played soccer together in high school and went to the same university.  He will be the best man at my wedding some day.  He’s the kind of person you would trust with your life, or in this case your daughter.  When I met Kristina I knew right away why Ryan fell in love with her.  He couldn’t have asked for a more perfect match.  Kristina is a great woman who deserves a great husband.  Thank god John married her before she found out!  Anyway, I’m very happy to see two of my favorite people getting married for better or worse.  Ryan couldn’t do any better and Kristina couldn’t do much worse.

Just remember that when you perform your speech to be yourself.  If you’d like more speech examples give these a try.  They helped me.

Hi it’s Paul…

Being a best man is indeed an honor and one that you should take seriously.  It illustrates that your friend has confidence in you and believes that you can be trusted to get the job done.  The most important thing to remember during the process is to be yourself.

Best man speech topics can vary.  If you’ve never delivered a speech then this can be a stressful time for you.  Fortunately I have compiled a list outlining a variety of speech topics that can help you think about what to write.  This list can serve as your roadmap for thank-you’s, toast proposals and best man speeches.

Thanking the Wedding Party and Guests

  1. It’s important to introduce yourself to everyone as not all people will know who you are – take some time to do this.
  2. Make sure to thank the bride and groom for having you.
  3. Use a joke or funny story to get the attention of the audience.
  4. Make a toast to the bride and groom

Having a Little Fun

  1. Tell a funny story on how you and the groom met.  Perhaps a story that says something about your friendship.
  2. Mention to the wedding audience how the groom introduced you to the bride – what did he say about her?
  3. Make a few jokes about how the groom has changed since meeting his bride.  For instance, he’s no longer allowed to stay out past midnight.
  4. Poking fun at the groom and roasting him with embarrassing stories should be the focus of your speech.  The audience will enjoy hearing you humiliate him.
  5. Tell some jokes about one of his past times or hobbies – maybe he still collects baseball cards just like you 9 year old niece!
  6. If there’s a projector in the room, it is a good idea to show pictures of him growing up.  Everyone will get a kick at his grade 3 haircut.

Advice on Marriage

  1. Get a little serious and give your friend some sincere words about marriage and the hard work that it will take.
  2. Look for some motivational and inspirational quotes that he and his bride can take to heart.
  3. Tell him what you’ve learned about being married – you can be funny with a few quick stories.

Toast the Wedding Party

  1. Make sure that you conclude your speech with a toast to the bride and groom.

Well I hope these best man speeches topics were helpful in providing you with some ideas for your toast and speech.

Until next time…..Paul.

Hi it’s Paul…

Best man speech examples are something that I didn’t make good use of until the last minute.  As I’ve mentioned previously, I left my speech almost to the last minute and discovered some excellent examples that took my speech to the next level.  I strongly recommend that you use templates and other people’s examples so that you avoid some the mistakes that I made.

The great thing about many best man wedding speeches examples is that they are designed to let you fill in the blanks so that you can create a speech quickly.  Better still, they are also flexible enough that your speech will sound unique.

Many of the templates that I’ve used are set up as follows:

  • Section 1 – People who you should thank
  • Section 2 – Stories that you can tell
  • Section 3 – The feelings of the big day
  • Section 4 – Bride and groom jokes
  • Section 5 – Ways of involving the audience

These are some of the components that wedding speech examples provide.  Another important thing that examples showed me was when to use a funny remark to shake up the audience from getting too bored.  In fact, I learned that the average persons attention span is just 6-9 minutes, so you should be brief, funny and sincere all at once.

If you want to make a lasting impression then I suggest that you find some examples online like I did.  You should be able to find something that reflects your personality in no time.  Click here for a wedding speech examples that I highly recommend.

Hi it’s Paul…

I have found that the most memorable wedding speeches are those that strike a balance between being emotional and funny.  Generally speaking, funny best man speeches are a real crowd-pleaser as long as the material is clean, witty and not offensive to anyone in the wedding party.

I used humor in my speech which I found kept the audience listening to me.  One tip that I can offer you is to try to use humor throughout the speech but use it at different times.  For instance, you may want to start with a joke at the beginning to get the audience to warm up to you.  Then use a funny story in the middle to grab everyone’s attention again.  Finally, you may want to conclude with another funny story so that everyone will remember you as the cool and funny best man.

Another thing that you can try when delivering your funny speech is to interact with the audience.  Remember that this is a toast and not a lecture so try to have conversations with certain people in the wedding party who can help add some humor.

As with all speeches, make sure th make good eye contact.  If you really want to be creative you can plant a funny prop or perform a trick using the audience.  I recently went to a wedding and saw someone do this and it was really effective.

Hi Paul here,

I always knew that when my good friend, Ryan, decided to get married and asked me to be the best man that I was going to have to prepare several best man speeches examples.  What I didn’t know was how hard it was going to be.  Don’t tell anyone but I didn’t prepare my speech for weeks until I realized that I better start to write it before it was too late.

Here’s a quick tip – don’t do what I did and leave it until the last minute.  If you do this your speech isn’t going to be that good.  I strongly suggest that you plan well in advance.

When you begin contemplating your best man speech you’ll quickly realize that the tast of writing it may appear daunting.  Remember that in addition to writing it, you also need to help prepare the groom for his big day.  You know, ensuring that he has everything as well as organzing his stag party.  If you get too caught up in these planning activities you will forget to write your speech.

About a week before the wedding day, I realized that I should start planning the speech and toasts.  So I sat down and started putting a whole bunch of ideas on paper.  It was a mixed bag of ideas that I jotted down based on the first thing that entered by head.  The hard part was taking all of these ideas and making them sound like one great speech.

Initially I found that organizing these ideas into a series of wedding toasts was hard.  However, I found some great speech guides and best man speeches that made this easy.  These guides helped take my information and develop it into a story that was funny, entertaining and memorable.  If you’re serious about creating a lasting impression then I encourage you to check them out.
